Our Organisation

Perth Boating Academy has been operating since 2003 - well before the RST was introduced.

Before the introduction of the RST we provided training and assessment for the precursor Department of Planning and Infrastructure Boatsmart Certificate and prior to this the TL3/National Powerboat Handling Certificate and personal powerboat handling tuition.

Boating has been a life long passion for Tracy, founder of the Perth Recreational Boating Academy.  With over 30 years of accomplished experience in and around Perth waters, the passion to become a qualified commercial skipper along with the desire to introduce others to the joy of boating, led to the creation of PRBA. 

In addition to the RST which is the entry level qualification for recreational boating, Tracy is qualified to deliver the more comprehensive National Powerboat Handling Certificate (NPHC) under the National Accredited Powerboat Training Scheme and is a qualified instructor for the Safety Boat Handling Certificate.

Yachting WA requires the NPHC as the minimum for operators of boats in affiliated organisations, such as yacht clubs and the NPHC is the minimum pre-requisite for people to be trained as safety boat operators, and the minimum pre-requisite for instructors.
